The Modesty Blaise mailing list is an unmoderated mailing list, centered on discussion and information exchange about Peter O'Donnell's Modesty Blaise books and comics, such as the characters, plot, artists, relevant articles, etc. You will receive postings to the list by E-mail to your E-mail address as long as you are subscribed to the list.
The Modesty Blaise mailing list is the first and longest-running online Modesty Blaise fan club. It was founded by Thomas Gramstad 19. march 1993, and he has served as list administrator from the beginning.
You can subscribe (or unsubscribe) yourself to the Modesty Blaise mailing list via this web page: http://mailman.gramstad.no/mailman/listinfo/modesty-blaise. From this web page you will also find a link to the list archive.
You can unsubscribe, change address, or change your subscription settings via the field at the bottom of the page ("Edit options..."). This mailing list is managed with the Mailman listserver.
In order to post to the list, send your posting to this address: modesty-blaise@mailman.nospamgramstad.no (remove "nospam" from the address). You will receive a copy of your own posting via the list when it is distributed.
The first time you post something to the new list, your posting may be slow to go through - maybe up to 24 hours - because of an anti-spam measure at the new machine, known as greylisting, whereby the recipient machine checks to see if your machine/e-mail address responds/exists (spammers' don't, because they use forged sender addresses).
If your posting is time-sensitive or you're just impatient, you can post your first posting a second time shortly after the first one, and the second one will go through right away (but so will the first one, some time later).
Do keep a copy of your first posting, in case something in the greylisting process breaks, and you need to resend your posting.
All postings you receive via the list will be in the plain text (simple text) format, i.e., no rich text and few if any attachments (attached files), for easy readability anywhere and for your safety against viruses, spam etc.
If your posting to the list contains rich text/HTML or attachments, those parts of your message will be automatically removed by the list server, and the remaining plain text part will be sent through to the list (you will see that the layout has been changed/simplified).
Attachments should generally be avoided on the list, and will in most cases be automatically stripped away. Generally: put the thing you want to attach on a website, and then post the web address to the list. (Some list members offer web hosting space for pictures and other documents - post to the list and ask if you need help with web publishing your material.)
In a few cases, attachments may be OK. In such cases, the attached file must be very small, and it must be in an open and harmless format (e.g., jpg, png, pdf). Postings with attachments will usually be subject to manual approval by list admin.
